A commercial building is a building that is used for commercial use. Types can include office buildings, warehouses, or retail. In urban locations, a commercial building often combines functions, such as an office on levels 2-10, with retail on floor 1. City or county authorities commonly maintain strict regulations on commercial zoning, and have the authority to designate any zoned area as such. A business must be located in an area zoned at least partially for commerce.

Commercial insurance will help protect your assets if your building is damaged or destroyed by fire or other causes. Public liability coverage will protect you if someone is hurt in the building and sues you.

If you own buildings such as apartments, condo’s, cabins or beach houses, you should also consider rent interruption insurance to make sure you do not lose rental income while you are repairing damages caused by a fire or tornado or hurricanes.
